Mother to the World

It has long been a joke (not without some basis in fact) in the Osborn household that Debbie feeds and clothes the world.  She would not approve of this little tribute post were she aware, but since she fell asleep early tonight, she can do nothing about it.

This is Santinho, one of our investigators, who participates a little less than his parents.  It was after holding him for a long while today that Debbie noted that there is no such thing as pampers nor rubber pants in Mozambique.  She dried off eventually.

I love this picture.

This is Elder Gee, one of Debbie's (many) favorites, who will go home in a couple of weeks and with whom we met up briefly in Beira this week.
The young elders of Quelimane gathered at our house tonight to call their mothers on Mother's day--but took at little time to sing to Debbie, give her a cake (made by Elder Homer who did not make it into this picture) and present her with some of the most creative Mother's day cards--shown below.  Debbie loved it and felt honored, revered and loved. From left to right, these are Elders Delgado, Petersen, McCullough, Maynez and Barlow.

Debbie is not in a Mozambican jail (tough that could happen at any moment.  This is simply the under-construction front porch of one of our investigators before a lesson one night.

Happy Mother's Day

  3. I loved the photos of Debbie and her mother's day tributes. I am sure one of the blessings of having a senior couple there is to buoy up the elders. And you two are doing just that. I am proud of you both. ggh
