We spent the last couple of days in our far north city of Nampula. We had a few people that we had to inteview and some church business to transact and training to provide for the branch leaders there. All in all, a productive and enjoyable trip. We encountered torrential rains and our training session was done at night without the benefit of electricity due to an outage--but illuminated by Debbie's wisdom and my headlamp. Herewith are a few picures from the trip.
We find that kids really gravitate to abandoned vehicles as playthings and playgrounds. I guess, I would have too if given the opportunity.

we stopped in the village of Alto Molocue and found these beautiful blue tailed lizards crawling around everywhere. |
These are some of the young women of the Nampula branch. I could have taken a picture of the young men, but they weren't nearly as nice looking. |
These termite mounds are everywhere--and some are amazingly tall. |
We met this guy at a fuel stop. Many people here are missing limbs and we have assumed that most were caused by land mines--left from the hard war years. In Mozambique, you can ask personal questions easier than in the states ("Elder Osborn, why are you fat?") so I asked him how he lost his leg. He was bitten by a snake and had to have it amputated to save his life. |

There is nothing special here--we just thought it quite picturesque--the outskirts of the small city of Mocuba. |
